FCP Article collection - Drug repositioning

Drug repositioning is based on the use of already existing drugs for a new indication. The process can be initiated by observations either on experimental models or on patients. Although this drug development approach is both time- and money-sparing and has a higher risk of success due in particular to the already known tolerance profile of the drug, it needs thorough preclinical and clinical evaluation. This work is perfectly in line with the scope of Fundamental and Clinical Pharmacology, and we have decided to gather work on this topic within a specific collection. Published papers will include the following “This publication is part of the collection “Drug Repositioning” of Fundamental and Clinical Pharmacology”. Publication guidelines are the same as for all manuscripts submitted to our journal, and we welcome original work on preclinical and clinical evaluation of drugs in the field of repositioning, reviews on either the repositioning within a specific field, of a specific drug or about technological or methodological aspects, as well as letter to the editor that might include personal reflections on this topic.
